Baroque Chic: Marco Bologna

I haven’t posted in a really long time. And then fate stepped in and I discovered MarcoBologna and now all I want to do is splash photos from the Italian design duos’ F/W 2012 collection all over this page. It’s important to note that Marco Giugliano and Nicolo Bologna began their fashion careers as jewelry designers and the influence that accessories have on their styling is huge. Their dresses are material-heavy and beg to be worn with weighty jeweled belts and bib necklaces. I am particularly smitten with the way they’ve reworked brocade, as shown here:

Their clothing is aristocratic in the best possible sense (no pomp here) and heavy on the drama. First, a look at some of my favorite MarcoBologna designs, followed by a few affordable ornate goodies that evoke the same feeling:
