Superhero style. Interesting.
Is 3.1 Phillip Lim’s pre-fall and F/W 2012 collection the result of what happens when the Male Gaze meets women’s Ready-to-Wear? Hopefully not, since I understand tons of women, as well as men, collect and cherish their comics, and that movies like “The Dark Knight Rises” are doing gangbuster business at the Box Office. Still…does that mean grown women will embrace comic book dressing? Not sure, but Phillip Lim took a chance with his pre-fall collection of superhero worship sweaters, as well as a bag and jacket.
I was more impressed with Lim’s F/W interpretation of comic book dressing, however, because he took a less literal route and showcased some brilliant black and white pieces that look more like old comic book paper, rather than its characters.
