Would you wear superhero-inspired fashion? 3.1 Phillip Lim wants to know.

Superhero style. Interesting.

Is 3.1 Phillip Lim’s pre-fall and F/W 2012 collection the result of what happens when the Male Gaze meets women’s Ready-to-Wear? Hopefully not, since I understand tons of women, as well as men, collect and cherish their comics, and that movies like “The Dark Knight Rises” are doing gangbuster business at the Box Office. Still…does that mean grown women will embrace comic book dressing? Not sure, but Phillip Lim took a chance with his pre-fall collection of superhero worship sweaters, as well as a bag and jacket.

I was more impressed with Lim’s F/W interpretation of comic book dressing, however, because he took a less literal route and showcased some brilliant black and white pieces that look more like old comic book paper, rather than its characters.

Now let’s have a peek at what we can find off the runway, and why not start with the extremely literal:

GoChaseRabbits is a queen at comic book design and sells her wares on Etsy. This skirt is $42.99:

That was fun, but let’s get down to business and focus on graphic black and white fashion:

Zara Bandeau Jumpsuit, $79.90

This collar is very cat burglar-sleek. Asos.com Sister Jane Faux Leather Collar Blouse with Studs and Chains, $93.67

Asos Weave Tote Shopper, $17.03

Asos Monochrome Pencil Skirt, $20.44

Sporty AND sparkly: H&M dress, $34.95

H&M sleeveless blouse with contrasting lace panels, $24.95

Modcloth.com Piece of Humble Magpie Dress, $144.99

Great price — Banana Republic Annie Print Wrap Dress, $59.99

White House Black Market Colorblock A-line Skirt, $39.99

White House Black Market Geo-Lace Striped Pencil Skirt, $79.99

White House Black Market Sleeveless Striped High-Neck Tee, $58

Charlotte Russe Black & White Ponte Blazer, $36.99

Charlotte Russe Crisscross Ponte Mini Skirt, $16.99

I am more or less clueless when it comes to shoes, but I love to end a post with one, when appropriate, and how cute is this peeptoe heel?

White House Black Market Striped Peeptoe Heel, $49.99
