Today I want to be…Khaleesi

Now that’s otherworldly chic! I’m so late to the Game of Thrones party, it’s shameful. And, truth be told, I still haven’t made it through those red velvet ropes because I have yet to see one episode of the show yet. It’s on my to-do list, possibly after I watch The Sopranos (again, miserably late for the party).

With that said, I most assuredly will not be inspired by Carmela Soprano’s sequins because I don’t own the jewels to do them justice, but I–like many others–am fascinated by GOT’s Khaleesi.

I know, she has another name–it starts with a ‘D,’ and I have no idea how it is spelled. I am a poseur merely interested in her accessories and capes. Be kind.

Interestingly, some runway styles have mimicked this quasi-ethereal, warrior princess mix of GOT and Katniss Everdeen. Edun is one label that got it right this S/S 2013. For anyone who doesn’t know, this is the label founded by Ali Hewson and U2’s Bono in 2005 that has made it their mission invest in Africa and produce 40 percent of its seasonal collection in Africa by 2013. Here’s what they did and did so well:
